Membership
CSI Membership Classification
Membership in CSI falls into the following 5 basic classifications plus 3 sub-classifications
Professional Member: A technically experience individual whose primary function is to author, interpret, or enforce construction documents and who has at least two years experience in this work.
Industry Member: A technically experience individual whose primary function is to use and/or comply with construction documents in the normal course of work to construct projects and who have at least two years experience in this work.
Associate Member: An individual whose primary function is to provide a service, support, and assistance to the construction industry and who have at least two years experience in this work.
Intermediate Member: An individual who is a prospective professional, industry or associate member, but who lacks the propr technical qualifications or the required experience for the respective full membership.
Student Member: An individual who is a full time student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a construction industry curriculum in an educational institution.
Retired Member: A professional, industry or associate member who is no longer engaged in income-producing activities, has reached the age of 65 years, has been a member in good standing in the Institute for the past five consecutive years and has been recommended for this change by their Chapter.
Emeritus Member: A professional, industry or associate member who has been a member in good standing in the Institute for the past 15 consecutive years, has reached the age of 70 years and has been recommended for this change by their chapter.
Lifetime Member: A member who is a former Institute President and automatically gets this classification at the end of the term as President
