Membership
CSI Membership Classification
Beginning on July 1, 2011, CSI Membership falls into the following 3 basic classifications plus 3 sub-classifications:
Professional Member: A technically experience individual whose primary function is to author, manage, or communicate building information; to create, interpret, or use construction documents; or to educate, support, or assist the construction industry and who has at least two years experience in this work.
Emerging Professional Member: An individual who is a prospective Professional Member but who has less than three years experience.
Student Member: An individual who is a full time student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a construction industry curriculum in an educational institution.
Retired Member: A Professional Member who is no longer engaged in income-producing activities, has reached the age of 65 years, has been a member in good standing in the Institute for the past five consecutive years and has been recommended for this change by their Chapter.
Emeritus Member: A Professional Member who has been a member in good standing in the Institute for the past 15 consecutive years, has reached the age of 70 years and has been recommended for this change by their chapter.
Lifetime Member: A member who is a former Institute President and automatically gets this classification at the end of the term as President
Distinguished Member: CSI's most prestigious Award given by vote of the Institute Board to recognize long-term contributions to the design/construction industry.
